Rick Gribenas is a new media artist born in Pittsburgh, PA and is currently living and working in Chicago, IL.
For his solo sound performance at Büro 21, Gribenas will present a new sound collage work based on a set of work named the "Murmur Suite", which exists as a set of tape loop, laptop and hand built electronics manipulated live by Gribenas.
Gribenas works primarily in installation, sculpture, sound and performance and has performed and exhibited across the US including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and internationally in Salzburg, Vienna, London and Malmö. Gribenas Recently debuted as a first of its kind architectural project in collaboration with Chicago artist Inigo Manglano-Ovalle, Architect Douglas Garofalo, and Astrophysicist Mark Hereld for the Hyde Park Art Center. Mr. Gribenas also belongs to the performance ensemble Antennacle, which has released recordings in both the US and in Europe and has performance tours planned for Japan, Europe and across the United States in 2006 and 2007.
