Scratch_Beck, Turntable Noise Performance (DE)

I work for several years now with turntables and records (mainly dance music and other "modern" electronic stuff), which I feed into a self developped analog system I call noize-concept. With this I'm able to deconstruct the material on the records and rebuild it anew.

In the last time I've focused more on a simple setup which employs the basic element of DJing and turntablism, the scratch. (I was very much influenced by Rap and Hip Hop, not to copy it, but to explore its innovative procedures in creating new music. There's also another branch of my work based soley on speech, which I perform with colleague Oliver Augst).

Scratching is the very direct approach of making the process of sound creation transparent in a modern environment. It's no more about score, notation and instruments, but about prerecorded material, technology and history. Scrachting demonstrates that music always already exists (what maxbe Cage has discovered and employed in his work). It is therefore a means to make this music audible by the way of distortion inevitable in the scratching.

In my performnce Scratch_Beck I will explore the possibilities and potentials of scratching with a minimum of two turntables, two records and some moderate electronic effects. The duration is about 60min.
