Malte Steiner - Maschinenraum (DE)

A happening with german artist Malte Steiner. The show will be divided in two parts: the interactive installation Maschinenraum and the electroacoustic concert Elektronengehirn Meta Instrument concert.

Maschinenraum Installation

The interactive installation Maschinenraum captures the noises from the audience and process them to an endless electroacoustic composition, which will never repeat. If there is no sound source it relies on its memory and work with sounds from the past. If new sounds occurs it records and process them. The projected video is a loop showing a motorboat engine those speed is controlled by the amount of sound. The installation was first shown at the Artgend Festival 2002 in Hamburg. Maschinenraum will be shown in Malmö in an enhanced version, which is connected to the Internet and except interaction from the web.

Elektronengehirn MetaInstrument concert.

Oppositional to my former performances which were tapeconcerts with live electronics, the new pieces are created by the computer in realtime and conducted with midi controllers like a faderbox or windcontroller. Because several bunches of parameters are controlled with view gestures, this way of the custom software is called MetaInstrument. It is created with Max/MSP and is part of an ongoing research to enhance the creation and playability of electroacoustic compositions in realtime.
