Pink Twins (FI)

Pink Twins

"What is a composer?"

"A thinker and a plastic artist who expresses himself through sound beings."

Iannis Xenakis, "Formalized Music"

Plastic artists who (also) express themselves through sound beings and, parallely, sound artists who (also) express themselves through visions, Pink Twins (brothers Juha and Vesa Vehviläinen, b. 1978 and 1974) have, since 1997, constructed a connective tissue with their audio and video works, trying to seamlessly join together the disconnected fragments of the everyday: they acquire the bits of images, sounds and sensations to which our existence is subjected daily, crumble them into tiny particles and put them together again in daring constructions that start from chaos and transfigure it, pulverize it and make it abstract, according to a unified artistic sensibility. The multifarious particles are embroidered into lavish compositions that - unlike the chaos that bombards us every day – are complete, deeply necessary and never superfluous. While experiencing them, we find ourselves marvelling at chromatic combinations, losing ourselves in spellbinding collisions of sounds.
