"Besegrad" 2/11 - 24/11
Tigern och Isbjörnen, Island

Solitude is something everyone knows. Sometimes you try to escape it by means of contact, talking and listening but in most cases, however communicating to the environment, you merely stand in the center and try to hold your head up, although not above the crowd, for then it will surely be chopped off.

The famous celebrity and singer Morrissey got so obsessed with his craving for isolation that he rid him self of contact with other humans and only communicated with members of the animal kingdom and the flora on a remote island in the pacific. There he wanted solitude but instead he became the embodiment of paranoid dysfunction much the same as the rest of us.

While in quest of solitude Morrissey can newer escape himself.

"Besegrad" is the third exhibition in a series of five traveling through the North Atlantic stopping in Isafjödur(ISL), Reykjavik(ISL), Malmö(SWE), Nuuk(GRL) and Thorshavn(FER).
Different elements form each exhibition although there are certain ideas and visuals that link them together.

The Tiger and the Polar bear is a collaboration between: Bjargey Ólafsdóttir, Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir, Ragnar Kjartansson and Unnar Örn Jónasson. The group does not make conventional group exhibitions but works as one body.
